TOG Gaitscan is a computerised software system and pressure plate for assessing foot mechanics. Often, problems with your feet will present themselves as referred symptoms in your back, knees and neck.

Gaitscan assesses the forces present, and weight distribution, in your feet whilst both standing still and walking. As you stride across the pressure plate, 4096 tiny sensors scan the surface of the foot. The system simulataneously records and captures the relative pressure load of each area of the foot including Medial Heel, Lateral Heel, Mid-Foot, Metatarsals 1-5, the Hallux and the Toes 2-5.

The results of your scan can be viewed in both 2D and 3D form, and assist our Osteopaths with your diagnosis and formulation of a tailored treatment plan. The results can also be transmitted to the Orthotic Group Laboratory in Canada, where a pair of corrective custom orthotics can be manufactured to treat your specific condition. It's a bit like getting a pair of prescription glasses...but for your feet!

Our Osteopaths have been trained by The Orthotic Group in the use of the Gaitscan system and orthotic prescription. It is one of the most advanced systems available to practitioners, and Osteopathy First are proud to be one of the only Osteopathic clinics in the country to offer this service.

Prescription Orthotics
Using the results of your Gaitscan, a pair of custom orthotics can be manufactured in around 10 days by the Orthotic Group laboratory in Canada. Osteopathy First offer a range of products including:-

SportFlex - A generic sports orthotic for athletes & other patients requiring increased bio mechanical control whilst on their feet.

RunFlex - Specifically engineered for the high performance runner or court player. Boasts increased shock absorption.

SuperFlex - For patients who require one pair of orthotics to wear in the majority of their shoes. Not suitable for dress shoes.

DressFlex - Designed for use in dress or slip-on shoes. Thin and narrow fitting.

Signature Footwear
New for 2008, we are able to offer a selection of shoes from top fashion and sportswear names, with inbuilt prescription orthotics. Work boots and safety boots are also available. Participating brands include: Merrell, Brooks, Hi-Tec, P W Minor, Fila and CAT.
