Biomechanical Assessment & Orthotics

Orthotics are insoles worn in your shoes that provide correction to your feet, helping them to function more efficiently. Poor foot function and alignment may be the cause of various aches and pains in your feet, ankles, knees, hips or back.

Our team have undergone extensive training in biomechanics and orthotic prescription. Together with the very latest in foot assessment technology, we are able to offer accurate and detailed information about what occurs within your feet, legs, hips and back during the gait cycle.

Our prescription orthotics help to relieve your pain by realigning and stabilising the bones in your feet, restoring your natural walking pattern. They are made from thermo-memory plastic which makes them slightly flexible and extremely comfortable to wear. Lots of people wear them every day, you just can't see them!

Our Gaitscan pressure plate is the very latest in assessment technology and literally maps the pressure within your whole foot during gait. It gives a clear picture of your timing sequences - as you walk across the pressure plate, thousands of tiny sensors capture the distribution of pressure of your foot over time.

The information is then summarised in a report that can be printed for you and us to see. The report findings help us to evaluate your foot function and determine if any pain you are experiencing is related to faulty foot function and whether you would benefit from wearing orthotics. If appropriate, your scan data and clinical information is then sent securely to the laboratory where your custom prescription orthotics are made. They arrive back with us for fitting in around ten working days.

Why not book a Gaitscan biomechanical assessment with us and see for yourself what your feet are doing and how orthotics could potentially change your life?

"I went to Mr Rob Hill with runners knee. This condition was impacting with my training significantly. Rob showed empathy towards a runner which most healthcare professional would not. Rob diagnosed my condition and implemented a treatment program involving custom made orthotics from Canada, rehabilitation exercises and massage. I am now on schedule to get a Boston marathon qualifying time. If you are a runner with an injury who wants to carry on training see Rob Hill." Dr Sunil Sharma

"I was treated by Rob Hill for a persistent hamstring and lower back complaint. His manipulation skills were fantastic and after very few sessions and some well prescribed physio exercises I'm back playing football with no pain. The clinic is wonderful and the staff were very helpful. I have also returned for gait scan and had custom built orthotic inner soles for my shoes. Would recommend these guys to anyone."  Mr Robin Evans

"Whilst prescribed medication alleviated the pain caused by Plantar Faciitis I needed a more permanent and pill free solution so I attended Osteopathy First and I’m delighted to report that the treatments coupled with the advice on exercises and which insoles to use have substantially reduced the discomfort and enabled me to stop popping pills. Thanks Hannah" Mr Terry McSweeny

"Having seen many specialists without success, a friend recommended I visit Osteopathy First to see if they could treat the persistent pain in my knees I got when running. They recommended and fitted Orthotics. Before seeing Osteopathy First I couldn't train for more than a few months without getting injured. But thanks to their help I am now able to train consistently. This has meant I have been able to run 3 Marathons in the past year, which simply would not have been possible before. I can't thank Osteopathy First enough and would recommend their friendly and professional service to anyone." Mr Andy Mutton
