Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy is fast emerging now as one of the most efficient forms of non surgical treatment for many chronic conditions:
*Plantar Fasciitis/Fasciopathy
*Achilles Tendinopathy
*Rotator Cuff and Shoulder Impingement Injuries
*Tennis or Golfers' Elbow/Elbow Tendinopathies
*Patellar Tendinopathy (Jumper's Knee)
*High Hamstring Tendinopathy
*Trochanteric Bursitis (Lateral Hip Pain/Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome)
A series of energetic shockwaves is applied to the specific area to be treated which provokes an inflammation reaction (pro-flamatory). Your body responds by increasing the blood circulation and metabolism in the area which in turn accelerates the body's own healing process. The shockwaves also help to break down injured tissue and calcifications.

Shockwave therapy offers many advantages for chronic conditions: not only is it clinically proven to help with the conditions stated above, compared to invasive surgical intervention, there are fewer potential complications and a much faster return to normal activity is seen. No medication or anaesthesia is required, and there is virtually no discomfort after the treatment.

A course of 3-6 sessions is recommended depending on the condition. This may be supported by further manual treatment and advice from the Osteopath in charge of your care. We offer an inclusive package for the initial consultation and first three treatments, subsequent treatments are dependent on the condition therefore are charged as single appointment. Optimum results are seen 6-8 weeks after completion of the treatment.

Please note that a full consultation must be undertaken prior to your first shockwave treatment, including the exclusion of certain contra-indications to the treatment. Please bring the results of any diagnostic tests and investigations with you to your first consultation appointment.
